Airdrieonians - Brechin City Match Preview

Brechin City will travel west to Airdrie tomorrow morning in good heart after their excellent 3-1 win up at Peterhead last Saturday and the players will be looking to make it four straight away wins to keep up the pressure on Livingston at the top of the table and extend the points advantage over tomorrow's opponents to eight.

The sides have met once already this season with City coming out on top by 3-2 after a close and competitive encounter at Glebe Park. Ally Love had given City an early lead but Andy Ryan levelled the score-line eight minutes before the break with City again grabbing the advantage through Andy Jackson in the 68th minute only for Scott Stewart to equalise three minutes later. The match then looked as if it was heading for a draw until a Dougie Hill header twelve minutes from time wrapped up victory for the hosts.

Another close encounter would appear to be on the cards tomorrow and while City will be going all out to make it four successive away victories, the hosts, now under the charge of former Dundee United and Celtic defender Mark Wilson will be looking to make it four wins from four games after straight victories over Queens Park (H) and East Fife and Albion Rovers (A).

As far as City team news is concerned, manager Darren Dods certainly doesn't have his problems to seek with two of last week's starting eleven, Darren McCormack and Finn Graham definitely out after both picked up injuries at Peterhead while Chris O'Neil is also a non-starter after suffering a recurrence of his hamstring injury in training last week. To exacerbate matters, both Paul McLean and Andy Jackson are still struggling with injury although Darren is hopeful that one of them may be fit enough to face the Diamonds.
