Brechin City - Peterhead Match Preview
Brechin City will open the New Year with a home fixture against Peterhead and there's no doubt that everyone connected with the club will be hoping that the team kick off 2017 with a victory over the Blue Toon.
Despite a horrendous injury situation, the team have worked really hard for each other in their last two matches with victories over Stranraer and Alloa Athletic.
The game against the Wasps last Saturday brought another bad injury blow when Euan Smith who has been such a consistent player for the side this season was carried off after catching his studs on the artificial surface and he will join Chris O'Neil, Darren McCormack, James Dale and Andy Jackson on the sidelines for Monday's fixture.
However, the players have proved already on a number of occasions this season that they can handle adversity well and they will go into the match confident that they can take maximum points to consolidate their position at the top end of the table..
They will face a side still smarting from a 2-0 home defeat from Stenhousemuir last Saturday and it's well worth noting that Jim McInally's men inflicted a 2-1 home defeat on league leaders Livingston just over a month ago which underlines just how dangerous opponents they will be.
