Livingston - Brechin City Match Preview

Brechin City will make the journey south to Livingston tomorrow hoping to create an upset by defeating the league leaders on their own patch. With Livi currently enjoying a nine points advantage over nearest rivals Alloa Athletic City's task would appear to be Herculean to say the least, but the players will go there determined to get back to winning ways after two straight league defeats from Peterhead and Albion Rovers.

Despite the disappointment of being out of action for the last couple of weeks due to the wintry weather and the fourth round Scottish Cup ties, there has been a positive aspect for City with the news that Andy Jackson, James Dale and Darren McCormack who have all been out of action in recent weeks are nearing a return to first-team action. All three players trained this week and will all be included in manager Darren Dods's squad for the trip to the Tony Macaroni Arena although to be fair, Saturday's match will probably come too soon for all three certainly in terms of a starting place but City supporters will be delighted to hear that their return to first-team action is very close. The enforced lay-off has also allowed defender Chris O'Neil to maximise his fitness levels and he looks to be in line for a return to duty after his long spell on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring. However, Alan Trouten will unfortunately have to sit out Saturday's match because of suspension.

The sides have met twice already this season with Livi coming out in top on both occasions winning the first encounter by 2-1 at home in mid-September and by a much more emphatic 3-0 score-line at Glebe Park towards the end of the following month.

The hosts have lost their last two home games, East Fife triumphing by 1-0 in last Saturday's 4th round Scottish Cup tie while Queens Park prevailed on League One duty on Christmas Eve so it would be fantastic if City were able to make it a hat-trick of away victories against the current run away league leaders and firm title favourites.
