Brechin City - East Fife Match Preview
Despite the huge disappointment of a last-gasp defeat against Alloa Athletic on Tuesday night, Brechin City players will enter tomorrow afternoon's match against East Fife in good heart and in an upbeat frame of mind. Recent performances have been good but the City players will need to show the same levels of work-rate and determination if they are to overcome a Fifers team which has been on a fantastic run since former City defender Barry Smith took charge in mid December.
Since that time, the team have gone in an incredible run of thirteen league matches without defeat, their last loss occurring way back in November when they went down by 2-1 against Queens Park at Bayview. City have also been on a good run of form of late despite Tuesday night's loss and only goal difference separates the home side and the Fifers with both teams sitting in joint third position in the table on 42 points with Barry Smith's men having a slightly superior goal difference.
There's no doubt that City will fancy their chances tomorrow if they can maintain their recent performance levels with all three previous encounters this season between the sides extremely close, City prevailing at Bayview in mid August by 2-1 while the Fifers won the following two encounters also by single goal margins.
As far as team news is concerned, City will be without the services of Ally Love who will be best man at a friend's wedding, while Willie Dyer has also been ruled out. Alan Trouten is also still struggling with injury and must be rated very doubtful.
