Dunfermline Athletic v Brechin City: MATCH PREVIEW - By Grant Hood

Having not faced each other in some 20 years prior to 2013, Brechin City and Dunfermline Athletic have become far more familiar opponents, meeting in each season since.

After the disappointment of last weekend’s morning postponement at The Falkirk Stadium, Darren Dods takes his City side to East End Park still searching for that elusive first Championship win. However, The Pars come into the game with one win in the last ten league matches – a run of form which is seeing an increasing degree of discontent amongst The Pars’ supporters.

PREVIOUS MEETING:
The clubs meet for the second time this season. City were well beaten by three goals to nil in the first Championship clash of the season back in September in front of a healthy attendance of 1214. Although the Glebe Park side started well and carried a goal threat, “goals change games”, and the visitors scored at crucial times through Lee Ashcroft, Declan McManus and Nicky Clark to ensure they could see out the final 20 minutes quite comfortably.

SQUAD NEWS:
Darren Dods will enjoy a rare luxury of choice over his team selection, with James Dale returning from suspension and Connor McLennan having recovered from injury. The only definite exclusion is long-term injury victim Ryan McGeever and City fans will be heartened to see the continued presence of Andy Jackson in the squad – albeit any game-time for the City striker is likely to be from the bench.

MATCH OFFICIALS:
The referee tomorrow will be Greg Aitken, assisted by Alan Mulvanny and Kevin McElhinney. This will be Aitken’s first City game this season, although he took charge of two last season, notably including the final league game of the season which resulted in a 1-1 draw at Ochilview against Stenhousemuir to secure an ultimately lucrative play-off spot – consigning the hosts to relegation to Scottish Football’s fourth tier.

SUPPORTERS TRAVEL:
For any City fans wishing to travel to the game, the Brechin City Supporters Club will be running a bus to Dunfermline which will leave St Ninians Square at 11.00am. If you would like to book your seat, please contact Derek on 07934 903090.
