Brechin City v Dumbarton - Match Preview - By Steven Mew

The two sides relegated from the Championship last season lock horns again in League 1 at Glebe Park tomorrow afternoon.

TEAM NEWS
Manager Darren Dods gave an update: "Dene Shields is unsurprisingly still in pain from the injury sustained at Montrose last weekend, but as yet the extent of the damage has not yet been fully diagnosed. He'll definitely miss out against Dumbarton, along with defenders Paul McLean and Jordan Tapping.

"Work is still going on behind the scenes to try and bring in new faces. The loan market is challenging with full time clubs looking for strong money for young players. We have to weigh that up and make decisions against our already stretched budget.

"We acknowledge that full-time clubs will rightly want to finalise their own playing squads before agreeing loan deals.

"This means that if we're successful, and given the closure of the transfer window next week, we're more likely to add to our squad before heading to Arbroath next weekend rather than in time for Dumbarton this weekend."

The Management Committee has also confirmed that midfielder Jamie Henry has left The Club by mutual consent.

MATCH OFFICIALS
The man in the middle this weekend is Mike Roncone and he will be assisted by Gordon Crawford and David Dunne. Roncone last took charge of a City match in the 2-0 defeat against Morton at Cappielow last season - a result that mathematically confirmed City's relegation from the Championship. Roncone has only shown one red card in the last 19 matches he has officiated.

LAST TIME OUT
There was derby day disappointment for City last weekend as they went down 2-1 to near neighbours Montrose at Links Park. Two early goals set the Gable Endies on their way but a headed goal from Boris Melingui before half time ensured a nervy second half for the home side.

Dumbarton meanwhile required a stoppage time Ross Forbes goal to rescue to a point at home to Arbroath. Bobby Linn had put Arbroath ahead midway through the first half.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS
The two sides faced each other in the Championship last season and it doesn't make pretty reading for City fans, with the Sons winning all 4 league fixtures. Darren Dods and his side will be hoping for a much improved record against Stevie Aitken's outfit this campaign.
