BRECHIN City's Official match programme "The Spire" finished halfway up the First Division table in the Scottish Programme of the Year Awards.

The Brechin programme, which has won the Second Division award, twice in the last three years, finished behind the glossy publications of Clyde, Dundee, St Johnstone and St Mirren.

Editor Steve Mitchell said: "These awards are always quite a good guide on what you are producing and I'm delighted the club has achieved it's highest ever listing this season.

"The whole of Scotland have found it difficult to compete with Clyde in the programme stakes. They have deservedly claimed their 11th title for the best programme in the country. To give fans an indication of what Clyde produce, their costs are over £1200 per issue more than ours! That's why they have such a good quality product.

"The most important thing for me is that our programme continues to inform and entertain those who buy it on a regular basis. On a personal note, I am hopeful that next season will see further improvements. And I want to thank the team of volunteers who make our programme such good value for money and also our printers City Press."
