Brechin City v Montrose - Match Preview
- By
Steven Mew
After three local derbies on the road during the first quarter, City can enjoy home comforts as we welcome near neighbours Montrose to Glebe Park tomorrow afternoon.
The Gable Endies won the last derby between the sides earlier in the season, however they have failed to register a single win since and currently sit bottom of League 1.
TEAM NEWS
City will be without the services of long term injury victim Dene Shields and also Jordan Sinclair, who is likely to be out for a couple of weeks with a knee knock.
Manager Darren Dods commented, "We gave away cheap goals last week which is really disappointing as it wasn't like us. The players are looking forward to getting back to the Glebe after what feels like ages with two away games either side of the international break.
MATCH OFFICIALS
Taking charge of the derby tomorrow is Lloyd Wilson who will be assisted by Paul O'Neill and Ross Birrell. This will be the first time Wilson has officiated a City match.

HALF TIME ENTERTAINMENT & BUCKET COLLECTION
Supporters attending the game tomorrow can enjoy a half-time dance display from a street dance crew called Alien who dance at Evolution Dance Studio in Montrose. Their ultimate aim every year is to qualify for World Street Dance Championships which, next year, are being held in Blackpool. They will also be fund-raising prior to the kick-off with an official bucket collection.
MATCH SPONSOR
The match tomorrow has been sponsored by committee member Ian Jardine. Many thanks to Ian for his continued backing.
LAST TIME OUT
Both sides went down to disappointing defeats last weekend. Despite Callum Tapping equalising from the spot on the hour mark, City went down 3-1 to an in-form East Fife side at New Bayview. Montrose meanwhile, lost 3-0 at home to Airdrieonians with ex City striker Darryl Duffy bagging a double.
PREVIOUS MEETING
City made the short journey to Links Park back in August in what was the first league fixture between the sides for over 16 years. It was a disastrous start to the game for City who were 2-0 down on the quarter hour mark and despite Boris Melingui pulling a goal back before half time, it wasn't enough as the Gable Endies held firm to record the win.
Montrose haven't been to the Glebe competitively since 2002, in a game which saw former City management team Ray McKinnon and Grant Johnson turn out for the Mo. Johnson was red carded in the fixture with City running out 2-0 winners. Montrose haven't won at Glebe Park since February 1999.
