East Fife v Brechin City - Match Preview
- By
Steven Mew
Following the disappointment of the Angus derby which was snowed off last weekend, City make the journey to Methil to take on East Fife tomorrow afternoon.
TEAM NEWS
The players and management enjoyed two full training sessions this week, the last unbroken week for a wee while given we're heading into two consecutive weeks which sees Tuesday night training replaced by crucial league action. This weeks sessions were described as 'sharp' with the added bonus of seeing both Callum Tapping and Jordan Sinclair progress further towards full fitness - although both require more time before being declared fit for selection. Striker Dene Shields is the only other definite absentee.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
City Manager Barry Smith commented, "Although it was only a fortnight since we last played, it feels like an age with the postponements against Stranraer and Montrose.
"I'd personally like to thank the supporters who worked incredibly hard last Saturday morning to battle the elements and work on clearing the pitch in the hope of getting the game on. Unfortunately it wasn't to be, a point plainly obvious when Stevie and I arrived at The Glebe to see the amount of snow which had continued to fall. It really was a magnificent effort from the supporters in quite dreadful conditions."
Turning to the match against East Fife, Barry added, "I took advantage of last week's postponement to head to Gayfield to watch East Fife in the flesh. Clearly it's a club I know well, but it was certainly useful to see them in action against the league's top side."

PREVIOUS MEETINGS
Brechin City 1-0 East Fife - 11th August 2018
The two sides met at Glebe Park in the second league game of the season back in August. A solitary goal from Jordan Sinclair just after the hour mark handed City a deserved win - this proved to be City's first league victory for 470 days.
East Fife 3-1 Brechin City - 20th October 2018
The Fifers came out on top in the return fixture at New Bayview. A penalty from Callum Tapping on the hour mark cancelled out Aaron Dunsmore's first half opener but goals from Anton Dowds and a Scott Agnew penalty gave the hosts a comfortable win.
Brechin City 0-0 East Fife - 5th March 2019
The most recent encounter between the sides just over a fortnight ago saw a share of the spoils at Glebe Park. With both sides battling for points for entirely different reasons, it made for a real competitive encounter with a point apiece probably a fair reflection on the game.
