Squad Update - By Steven Mew

The club can confirm that three players have signed deals for season 2019/20, with goalkeeper Patrick O'Neil signing a new contract along with new recruits Ryan McCord and Luke Watt.

NEW CONTRACT - PATRICK O'NEIL
Brechin City FC are pleased to announce that goalkeeper Patrick O'Neil has put pen to paper on a new contract which will keep him at Glebe Park next season.

The 27 year old is a hugely popular figure around the club and will enter his 6th season at City. When given his chance in the side last campaign, O'Neil impressed as he notched 5 clean sheets in 14 league appearances.

Manager Barry Smith said, "We're pleased that Paddy decided to re-sign for the new season. He showed during his run in the team last season that he was more than capable and he's happy to stay on to challenge and create genuine competition for the goalkeeper position."

After signing for another year, Paddy said, "I'm happy to sign up again. It's been a tough couple of years but I'm looking forward to giving my all to help us get promoted back to League One."

NEW SIGNING - RYAN MCCORD
The Club are delighted to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Ryan McCord ahead of the 2019/20 season.

The 30 year old came through the youth system at Dundee United and during his time at Tannadice he had loan spells at Stirling Albion and Airdrie. After leaving the Tangerines, he joined Paul Hartley at Alloa Athletic where he helped the Wasps achieve back-to-back promotions before consolidating in the Championship.

His performances would earn him a full time contract at Raith Rovers where he spent a season before joining Arbroath in the summer of 2016. He was an instrumental figure in their League Two Championship winning squad before picking up another winners medal last season as the Lichties gained promotion to the Championship.

Manager Barry Smith said, "We are delighted to have Ryan join us here at the club. He's a really good signing with undoubted talent and his ability will be a huge asset to the team. He was unfortunate not to have played a bigger part in Arbroath's title-winning campaign last season, as that was simply down to the form of others."

NEW SIGNING - LUKE WATT
The Club are also pleased to announce the signing of versatile defender Luke Watt, subject to international clearance, having plyed his trade with Croatian side NK Novigrad last season.

The 21 year old, who can operate on either side of defence or midfield, came through the ranks at Motherwell where he made a number of first team appearances whilst also spending time on loan at Stranraer, East Fife and Airdrieonians.

Manager Barry Smith said, "I worked with Luke at East Fife so I know exactly what type of player we're getting. He was developed through Motherwell's Academy so was brought up in the right way. He can play a number of positions which will be a clear benefit to us in the coming season. He's good on the ball and brings an element of steel to his play - be that in defence or midfield."
