Stenhousemuir v Brechin City - Match Preview - By Steven Mew

Mark Wilson's City side travel to face Stenhousemuir at Ochilview tomorrow looking to bounce back from a defeat at home to league leaders Cove Rangers last weekend.

Stenny this week parted company with Manager Colin McMenamin, with former boss Davie Irons taking interim charge. Similarly to City, the Warriors have struggled to adapt to life in League 2 following relegation last season and sit just two points above Mark Wilson's side in the league table.

TEAM NEWS
Sean McIntosh remains a definite absentee with a broken metatarsal, whilst Jamie Reid continues to work his way back to fitness and could make the bench.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Manager Mark Wilson talked to the Club’s Media Team and reflected on his first game in charge against current League Leaders Cove Rangers.

The amiable Brechin City gaffer said, “Although we were disappointed with the result at The Glebe last weekend, realistically we have to recognise Cove are a right good team at the moment and lead the League on merit. However, having watched the game back, there are positives for us to take – especially in the first half. We’ve scored first in the last 3 games, scoring early in the last two. We worked on set pieces in the lead up to last week’s game and it was really pleasing when something we worked on saw us take an early lead last week with Luke Watt’s header from a corner. Also, it’s great that Emile scored from a smashing finish and that will give his confidence a real boost.”

Looking forward the clash at Ochilview, Mark added, “Training was really high tempo this week. The players are buzzing – and desperate to get a second win of the season.”

PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 1-1 Stenhousemuir - 4 May 2019
The sides met on the final day of last season where Andy Jackson's equaliser wasn't enough to save City from the heartache of successive relegations. Mark McGuigan had opened the scoring for the visitors midway through the first half and although the point was enough for them to finish above City in the table, they would also be relegated to League Two following defeat to Annan Athletic in the playoffs.
