Brechin City v Cowdenbeath - Match Preview
- By
Steven Mew
City will be looking to build on their confidence boosting win last weekend as we welcome Gary Bollan's Cowdenbeath side to Glebe Park tomorrow afternoon.
The Blue Brazil are arguably the surprise package in League Two this season and currently sit comfortably in a promotion playoff spot. However, City will be buoyed by their win over an in-form Stirling Albion side and will be keen to make up further ground on the teams directly above in the table.
TEAM NEWS
For the third consecutive match, Mark Wilson should have the luxury of having a full compliment to choose from.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the win last weekend, Mark Wilson said, "I thought we did well and deserved the win. We did a lot of the things that we've been working on in training. Obviously we are disappointed with the two goals that we conceded but our reaction after going behind twice showed a lot of character. There were a lot of good individual performances and we got our rewards."
Speaking on goalkeeper Lewis McMinn's goal from the edge of his own box, Mark said, "You don't often see it and it's certainly the first time that I have seen anything like it live. I said to Craig Nelson that his kicking had been excellent all day and then he puts one into the stand. Then a few minutes later he scores and it was a rub of the green that we've been waiting for and it gave us that cushion to relax a bit. He was more impressed with the couple of saves that he made after the goal."
Looking ahead to tomorrow, Mark is hopeful of another positive result - "I think every team in this league goes into every fixture fairly optimistic of their chances. We've obviously gone through a bad spell but one or two wins can change your season in this league. We'll look to get the same commitment and attitude from the players as last week and if we do that then we can get another positive result. It'll be a tough game as Cowdenbeath are a well organised side - I know Gary Bollan well and is an ex-teammate of mine so I know they will be difficult to beat but if we go into the game with the right attitude we'll have a good chance of getting three points."

Tomorrow's match referee will be Craig Napier who will be assisted by Jonathan Bell and Elliot Husband-Powton. Napier was the man in the middle the last time City won a league match at Glebe Park against Elgin City at the end of September.

PREVIOUS MEETING
Despite getting off to a perfect start through Ryan McCord’s second minute opener, a City side under the guidance of Caretaker Stevie Campbell were edged out by Cowdenbeath at a windswept Central Park back in August. The home side found themselves level after just 6 minutes through Archie Thomas before Fraser Mullen scored what proved to be the winning goal three minutes before the break.
