MARTIN SCOTT SIGNS - By Steven Mew

The transfer activity at Glebe Park continues as Manager Mark Wilson has clinched the signing of Martin 'Jimmy' Scott from Cove Rangers on a permanent deal until May 2021.

The vastly experienced midfielder/forward has represented no fewer than eight clubs and has been capped at Under 21 level for Scotland.

He came through the youth system at his hometown club Livingston before signing for Ross County where he undoubtedly enjoyed his best years. He went on to make 158 appearances for the Staggies and notably scored the second goal in a 2-0 Scottish Cup semi-final win over Celtic in 2010, before losing out in the final to Dundee United.

An £80,000 move to Hibernian followed where he struggled to hold down a regular starting berth before being loaned back to County for the 2012/13 season.

A return to Livingston and a spell with Raith Rovers followed, before exploring a new challenge with Indian side Salgaocar. He returned to Scotland in July 2016 and signed for Dick Campbell's Arbroath side where he helped the Lichties to the League 2 title, netting ten goals along the way.

In recent years 'Jimmy' has represented Stenhousemuir, Cowdenbeath and most recently Cove Rangers where he picked up Highland League and Highland League Cup winners medals last campaign. This season he has made 24 appearances, including all three fixtures against City.

Manager Mark Wilson said, "Jimmy is another player that fits all of the criteria that we were looking for. I'm delighted to have him on board - a player with a wealth of experience and that's what we set out to get. He is somebody at the top end of the pitch who knows how to score goals and bring other people into play. The amount of clubs and the success he's had throughout his career testifies to that.

"He is coming from a winning team who will win the division and he's been a regular in that side. He was looking for a fresh challenge so we're delighted to get him - he's a great addition to the dressing room, will add character and will help bring on the young boys as well.

"We can't wait to see him get started and he's really up for the challenge of helping Brechin City."
