Brechin 2-1 Peterhead - By Steven Mew

Chris Geddes
Chris Geddes- scorer of City's first goal.

Gerry Britton was the first City player to hit the woodwork when he latched onto a pass and his shot was deflected onto the post.

In the second half both Graham Gibson and Chris Geddes were both denied by the post after some neat moves.

City eventually took the lead through Chris Geddes when he got past his man before unleashing a speculative dipping volley which went over the goalkeeper and into the net.

Peterhead equalised five minutes later however when they won a penalty as John Hillcoat brought down a Peterhead attacker in the box. The penalty was a cheeky chip which sailed into the net with Hillcoat already down to his right.

City were soon back in the lead though as another young City star got on the scoresheet. Scott Devlin neatly played the ball over his marker before striking a dipping volley which sailed into the net with the keeper well beaten.

That appeared to be the last bit of excitement, other than committee member Hugh Campbell Adamson being involved in a rather unfortunate accident! A loose ball struck Hugh in the Main Stand which sent his cup of tea everywhere! Needless to say there were a few chuckles in the Main Stand, mainly from fellow committee members.

City starting line-up:
John Hillcoat; Paul Deas; Scott Wilson; David White; Craig McEwan; Stuart Callaghan; Grant Johnson; Ally Mitchell; Chris Geddes; Graham Gibson; Gerry Britton.
