Stirling Albion v Brechin City | Match Preview - By Steven Mew

Following a long layoff, a new-look City side are back in action tomorrow afternoon as they travel to face Stirling Albion at Forthbank.

The Bino's currently occupy the last promotion play-off spot in the table, having lost only once so far this season.

City remain rooted to the bottom, two points adrift of Albion Rovers however with seven new recruits and with the possibility of more to come, Michael Paton's side will be optimistic of a positive end to the campaign.

TEAM NEWS
City Manager Michael Paton will have a full compliment to choose from, including Sean McIntosh who has made a full recovery from a hip injury that had kept him out of action before the league suspension.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Michael commented, "The preparations for the restart have been going great, especially with the new faces coming in and freshening the place up a bit. I've asked the squad to come in and basically train every night with the exception of a Wednesday and they've been doing that. There has been no complaints - they've got their heads down and worked hard. We've also had a bounce game against Falkirk which was very pleasing and encouraging.

"We're going about things the right way, the boys have come in, not moaned about it and got on with the running. The attitude has been great and the standard has been lifted with the experienced players coming in. We're all really looking forward to the league starting again."

The City boss has been extremely busy in the transfer window, bringing in 7 new signings with the possibility of more to follow, he said, "I was delighted to get in so many new faces in such a short period. It's been tough at times but thankfully I've got a lot of connections that have pulled through and I've done my homework.

"We've now got a real balance to the team and we're excited to be back. I recognised early on that we needed more experienced players in to take a bit of responsibility off these younger heads so they can flourish and show their talent. Instead of having one or two experienced heads, we've now got five or six who can help these players both on and off the park."

Looking ahead to a tough fixture against Stirling Albion tomorrow, Michael commented, "Their record speaks for itself. They have a lot of good players, including the likes of Andy Ryan upfront who has played at a higher level and Jack Leitch who is a real threat as well. They are a well organised team however we have strengthened as well, so we will play to our strengths and hopefully we can get a positive result."

PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 0-5 Stirling Albion - 7th November 2020
The Binos ran out five goal winners in the last meeting between the sides at Glebe Park in November. Jack Leitch netted the opener before Gregor Jordan was given his marching orders for City on the stroke of half time, and the visitors took full advantage as David Wilson converted the resulting free kick. Further goals in the second half from Andy Ryan, Scott Roberts and Declan Byrne added gloss to the win for Kevin Rutkiewicz's side.
