Another tough test awaits City tomorrow afternoon as we welcome league leaders Queen's Park to the Glebe.
The full-timers head up to Brechin coming off the back of a 3-0 win over Stranraer last Saturday, having had the relative luxury of a full week to prepare for the game. City, meanwhile, also came up against Stranraer in midweek - going down 2-0 despite another positive first half showing.
The Spiders are still unbeaten in the league this season, having won 8 and drawn 2 of their opening ten matches. City on the other hand remain two points adrift of Albion Rover at the foot of the table having played a game more.
TEAM NEWS
Experienced duo Abdul Osman and Gerry McLauchlan, who both came off with injuries against Stranraer on Tuesday, were being assessed by Physio Seb Panczyk yesterday evening to find out the extent of their respective injuries. Player/Manager Michael Paton is still struggling with a hamstring problem but is hopeful of returning for the match against Elgin City in midweek. Also missing for City tomorrow will be left back Dave McKay.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Looking back at Tuesday's defeat against Stranraer, Michael lamented his sides' luck,
"When you're down that end of the table these things don't go for you. It felt like a triple blow with losing the leadership and presence of 'Abs' through injury and then Gerry going down with an injury too. Because of how honest he is, he tried to get up and get back into position to stop the shot for the opening goal but it deflects off his side. Looking back at it again, it looks as if the shot is going straight down the middle but the wicked deflection took it into the back of the net.
"From there we looked a bit deflated after controlling the majority of the game - we created a lot of chances. Rory Currie was incredibly unfortunate with his shot which hit the inside of one post, rolls across the line and hits the inside of the other post.
"It's frustrating but we've got to take more positives out of that game. In the two matches we've played so far, for over 60 minutes we've held our own and at times looked better than the opposition. Going in at half time, we felt we were in control and deserved to be in front."
The back four that started the match had an average age of less than 19. Michael added,
"Full credit to the lads - they took on board what I've asked them to do and they looked very composed. It looked as if they've been playing together a lot longer than a couple of games. It was Adam Devine's first game and he gave a good account of himself."
Looking ahead to another tricky fixture tomorrow, Michael said,
"They've got all the resources available to rotate the team and put the same quality in as they are taking out. It's going to be a tough ask but the players will dust themselves down and go again but these are the games you want to play in. You want to play against the best in the league and it's a chance to show our mettle against a top team."

PREVIOUS MEETING
Queen's Park 3-0 Brechin City - 21 November 2020
League leaders Queen’s Park proved to be too strong for City as the Spiders coasted to a comfortable win at Hampden Park. On target for the home side were Jai Quitongo, Bob McHugh and Darren Lyon.
It was a game in which the hosts dominated from start to finish, with City failing to test goalkeeper Willie Muir who, in the process, surpassed a club record of 706 minutes without conceding a league goal.
