Brechin City v Elgin City | Match Preview - By Steven Mew

The fixtures continue to come thick and fast for City as Elgin provide the opposition at Glebe Park this evening.

Gavin Price's side go into the game off the back of a 1-1 draw against Stirling Albion on Saturday and currently sit in 5th place, just outwith the promotion playoff spots.

Following three defeats to strong opposition since the league restart, Brechin will be looking to push on and pick up some much needed points with three consecutive home matches ahead.

TEAM NEWS
City will continue to be without the experienced trio of Gerry McLauchlan, Abdul Osman and Player/Manager Michael Paton through injury, whilst late checks will be made on a couple of other players ahead of kick off. City will also be without winger Bobby Barr who is suspended following his red card against Queen's Park on Saturday. After missing the last three matches, defender Luc Bollan is likely to be included in the squad this evening.

On the injuries, Michael Paton commented, "After tonight's game we will have a full week to recover so we can get Seb (Physio) working on the players that are needing it. I'm very hopeful that these players should be available for the Stenhousemuir game."

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Speaking on Saturday's defeat against Queen's Park, Michael commented, "They are the only full time team in the league and they've got quality players. They came flying out the traps and we really felt we were against it during the opening 15 minutes. Credit to the boys though - we regrouped, changed our shape at half time and kept plugging away."

Looking ahead to the fixture this evening, he said "It's tough not to have a look at results elsewhere but we are completely focussed on our own game. Whatever happens elsewhere will take care of itself, we just need to make sure that we are still working together and pushing in the right direction.

"It's been tough as there are a lot of new faces and because of the number of games we've not had as much time to build relationships and work on our shape. The young players have come in and hit the ground running so it's full credit to them and tonight is another opportunity for these guys to go out and showcase what they've got.

"There are less games in the calendar now and ultimately we need to get the points on the board. Every game for us is a cup final and we will approach each one in the exact same way."

PREVIOUS MEETING
Elgin City 3-0 Brechin City - 24 October 2020
City were left to count the cost of defensive errors as Elgin ran out comfortable winners at Borough Briggs in October.

It would prove to be Mark Wilson's final game in charge of City as goals from Brian Cameron and Kane Hester (2) saw City slip to a fifth consecutive defeat.
