Match Preview | Cowdenbeath v Brechin City - By Steven Mew

City make the journey to Fife to take on Cowdenbeath tomorrow evening, marking the start of a busy post-split schedule with Michael Paton's side facing 4 matches over the next 8 days.

TEAM NEWS
With the exception of long term absentee Connor Barron, City will have a full squad available for tomorrow's match. Experienced midfielder Abdul Osman returns from a one match suspension whilst Gerry McLauchlan and Rory Currie return from injury.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on last Tuesday's stalemate against Cowdenbeath, Player/Manager Michael Paton said, "It was a positive reaction from the game against Annan - getting a clean sheet and a point. We did a lot more of what we've been missing and that is showing the ugly side for 90 minutes. The boys fought tooth and nail all over the park - Cowdenbeath are a real physical team that play to their strengths. We were obviously looking for the win but there were positives to take from it."

It was a first clean sheet since October for City with David Hutton impressing in particular between the sticks. Michael commented, "In the first half he pulled off a great double save which kept us in the game. It's the first game that we haven't conceded since the restart so it's a real confidence boost for 'Hutts' and the defence."

Looking ahead to a busy schedule over the next week, he said "We've got to keep going about our business in the same way. We've got to build on the performance last Tuesday with more of an attacking threat. It's all about building momentum over the next four games.

"The schedule is going to stretch every squad. You've got guys working shifts early in the morning and having to get time off their work so it's not only a massive ask for them playing these games but also balancing their work lives around it."

PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 0-0 Cowdenbeath - 20 April 2021
You only have to go back a week for the last meeting between the sides. A battling City outfit earned a point and a clean sheet against the Blue Brazil at Glebe Park however a lack of cutting edge going forward meant they couldn't grab the win they sorely needed against the side directly above in the league table.
