Craig Nelson Moves On

After 17 years of uninterrupted service to Brechin City FC, we regretfully confirm that Goalkeeping Coach Craig Nelson has moved on from the Club due to work commitments.
Based in Coatbridge and with additional travelling in the Highland League this season, 'Nelly' was unable to strike a balance between his role at City along with his day-job and family life and goes with our best wishes.
Craig initially signed for the Club on loan from St Johnstone in 2004, and helped a City side led by Dick Campbell cruise to the old second division title that season, finishing 9 points clear of nearest challengers Stranraer.
Following a thoroughly impressive first season, it was of little surprise that Dick Campbell went all out to ensure 'Nelly' remained at Glebe Park, and he would sign a permanent deal at the end of the Championship winning campaign.
An almost ever-present fixture between the sticks over the best part of a decade, he went on to play 328 times for City in total. Craig made his final appearance aged 42 in the 2013/14 season as he made the transition from playing to coaching.
It would be entirely fair to say 'Nelly' leaves as a Club legend and one of the finest keepers to represent City.
Chairman Kevin Mackie commented, "For someone to stay with one club for as long as Craig has says everything about him and what the club meant to him.
"The place will not be the same without Craig but we wish him all the best for the future and look forward to welcoming him back to Glebe Park as a supporter.
"We'd like to thank Craig for his loyal service.”
