City make the trip to face Fraserburgh at Bellslea Park tomorrow afternoon with the 'Broch' one of just two sides who boast a 100% record so far in the Highland League this season.
In what is undoubtedly one of the toughest fixtures City will have this season against a side widely tipped to challenge for the title - Andy Kirk's men will be acutely aware that a marked improvement from last weekend's showing against Rothes will be required in order to come away with a positive result.
TEAM NEWS
City will be without the services of experienced full-back Jamie Bain who will now serve a two-match suspension following his sending off against Rothes last weekend. On-loan Aberdeen youngster Jack Milne will also be unavailable, with decisions to be made on the fitness of another couple of players ahead of the game.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Looking back at the weekend's draw against Rothes, Andy Kirk said,
"We are trying to get them to play a certain way this season - at times we have good passages of play and we had two or three good opportunities and if we took a bit more care in the final third we could have gone in more than a goal up.
"The second half performance was nowhere near acceptable and the players know that. They dropped their levels, they were slow to react and didn't win second balls. We were caught sleeping and made some poor decisions which cost us the two goals. It was disappointing to go from total control in the first half to allowing Rothes back into the game."
Max Kucheriavyi has impressed for City so far this season and netted a spectacular free kick for a stoppage time equaliser. Kirk added,
"We knew what we were getting when we brought Max in. In my opinion his ability is way beyond the level that we're at - he's very creative and we've always got a chance to score with his deliveries from free kicks. His free kick for the goal on Saturday was different class and it earned us a point that we were thankful to get as the performance wasn't acceptable."
Looking ahead to a tough trip to the 'Broch' on Saturday, Kirk was wary of the strength of the opposition, he said,
"Fraserburgh will be a real challenge. Buckie Thistle in the cup was a bit of an eye opener for the players and this one I'm sure will be very similar if not tougher given that it's away from home.
"It's moments like these that we need the players to step up to the mark and we need to go toe-to-toe with them and complete for every ball if we are to get something from the game. Some weeks you've just got to roll your sleeves up and fight from the first to the last minute."
Jamie Bain will miss out through suspension following his ordering off last weekend with Kirk adding,
"Jamie has been good for us so far this season. He apologised to the guys after the game- he was frustrated and had a rush of blood to the head but he's just got to learn from that. It's disappointing that we'll now be missing him for two games."
