Unveiling of William Wallace Statue - By Brechin City FC

This coming Sunday (5th September) the Club are delighted to host the unveiling of the Braveheart statue which has found a new home at Glebe Park.

Local sculptor Tommy Church came up with the idea of identifying a permanent home for his work in his home town and decided what would be better than the local football club. The 13ft figure depicts William Wallace as Mel Gibson who famously played the Scottish patriot in the film Braveheart.

Clark Renilson, Community Manager stated, "When Tommy came up with the idea we were delighted to accept his offer which will not only be appreciated by our own supporters but also visiting supporters to the ground.

"The statue itself is a remarkable piece of craftsmanship by a local man who put Brechin on the map with his talents. Having previously been on display all over Scotland we are delighted that the statue will be situated within our ground for all to see and appreciate."

The unveiling will be hosted by STV Newsreader and local Brechiner Andrea Brymer, commencing at 2pm with the public invited to attend free of charge.

There will be a charity bucket collection for kidney dialysis on entry as well as refreshments on offer. The Brechin Community Football Trust will also host fun football games on the park for children with what should be a fun day for everyone attending.
