It's home comforts again for City tomorrow afternoon as we play host to Forres Mechanics in the Highland League - with Andy Kirk's side aiming to make it four consecutive wins.
City head into the game off the back of a 5 goal victory over Vale of Leithen in the 1st round of the Scottish Cup last weekend. Forres, meanwhile, exited the competition at the hands of Lowland League leaders Bonnyrigg Rose.
A win for City could potentially see them rise into second place, whilst the Can Cans currently sit in 9th position having amassed 13 points from their opening nine matches.
TEAM NEWS
City will welcome back keeper Jack Wills and playmaker Max Kucheriavyi having been able to play in last weekend's Scottish Cup match due to their respective loan agreements. Recent recruit Cammie Ross will also return to the squad having been ineligible last week due to playing for Broxburn Athletic in a previous round. The Manager will, however, continue to be without the services of Garry Wood and Kevin McHattie through injury whilst David Cox is unavailable.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on last weeks Scottish Cup win over Vale of Leithen, Andy Kirk commented,
"Progressing to the next round was the most important thing. As frustrating as it was with the chances that we missed, if you said we would have won 5-0 comfortably before the game you would have taken it. We have to be more clinical as you won't get that number of chances every game.
"We got through and hoped that the draw would be kind to us - we got another home game which you would take at any stage. Although we don't know our opposition yet, we look forward to it and if we can produce the same level of performance that will hopefully be enough for us to progress."
Four players netted on Saturday, with 11 different players on the scoresheet in total already this season. Andy added,
"It's a good thing that we've got goals coming from different areas. We've got the likes of Kieran Inglis popping up with a few from the full-back position and it's encouraging that we are creating a lot of chances. It's just frustrating on our part that we'd like to be taking a lot more of those opportunities. Over the course of the season it might be that one player steps up and starts scoring regularly but it's great that the team are contributing all over the pitch."
Looking ahead to tomorrow's clash with Forres Mechanics, Andy said,
"We spoke about building momentum after the Formartine game and it was just unfortunate that we missed two matches through Covid. We had a good result at Nairn, albeit the performance wasn't great but we created a lot of chances and we did so again on Saturday. Hopefully we can keep this run going and get the momentum in our favour again.
"It'll be a real boost having Jack Wills and Max Kucheriavyi back in the mix. Jack has come in and done really well for us this season and Max has been different class - he's had a lot of assists this season and I'm sure he'll chip in with more goals over the course of the season.
