Match Preview | Brechin City v Haddington Athletic - By Steven Mew

City are in Scottish Cup action tomorrow afternoon as we welcome East of Scotland outfit Haddington Athletic in the second round for what will be the first ever meeting between the sides.

The Hi-His travel to Glebe Park full of confidence following an excellent start to the season which has seen them go unbeaten so far in the East of Scotland 1st Division.

However with 7 wins from their last 8 games, City are also in a rich vein of form and will be looking to quash any chance of a cup upset.

TEAM NEWS
Despite coming off at half time against Wick on Saturday, on-loan midfielder Jack Milne should be available although there will be a late check on Jamie Bain who also limped off during the game at Harmsworth Park.

City supporters will be encouraged to learn that striker Garry Wood, who has missed the last 6 weeks through injury, returned to training on Wednesday evening. Kevin McHattie will miss out as he continues his rehab from a hip operation, along with several unnamed players who will be unavailable tomorrow.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the win over Wick on Saturday, Manager Andy Kirk commented, "The performance wasn't great but there were a lot of factors involved in that. Wick have had a lot of draws this season and they are hard to break down on what was a difficult pitch. The boys kept battling away and they got their reward at the end of the day - the objective was to go up there and win the game and that's exactly what we done.

"Marc Scott gave us something different in the second half with his pace and direct style of play. We always knew we had that threat from the bench and his two goals helped to win the game for us."

Looking ahead to the cup tie against Haddington tomorrow, Andy added, "It's the romance of the cup - they are in a lower league than us but they've had a great start to the season so they'll be full of confidence. They have won a lot of games and they'll come up here looking to cause an upset.

"Every week we go out there and treat each match in the same manner - we'll train and prepare in the best possible way and if we can get our performance level to what we know we are capable of then we'll be a tough team to face for anyone. Haddington are a good side and they will pose a real threat so we need to ensure that we are on our game to get through to the next round.
