Match Preview | Brechin City v Keith
- By
Steven Mew
Following an impressive 3-0 victory against Brora Rangers at Dudgeon Park last weekend, City are back at home tomorrow afternoon as we welcome Keith FC to Glebe Park for a 2pm kick off.
City will be looking to continue their unbeaten league run which is now sitting at 21 matches.
Although Keith were defeated 2-0 by Inverurie Locos in the Aberdeenshire Shield in midweek, they were 6-1 winners over Strathspey Thistle in the league last weekend.
TEAM NEWS
Michael McArthur is getting close to a return but tomorrow is likely to come too soon for the midfielder. Otherwise, Andy Kirk is hopeful of having the rest of the squad available for tomorrow's match.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the victory over Brora Rangers last weekend, Manager Andy Kirk commented, "It was a difficult game for us and it's always tough going up there at any stage of the season. Coming off the back of a disappointing performance against Huntly on the Wednesday, it put a wee bit of additional pressure on us but I thought we dealt with it very well. We put in a strong performance and deservedly got the result.
"Brora are a strong team and I expect them to be at the top end of the table come the end of the season so to go to one of your bigger rivals and score 3 goals and keeping a clean sheet is a good achievement. However there is still a long way to go and we have stay focussed - I guess that's what last Wednesday taught us."
Two great strikes from Fraser MacLeod and Marc Scott set City on their way to victory with Andy adding, "Fraser has done really well for us and is getting stronger game by game so we were delighted to see him get his goal. Marc is capable of that and he's been a wee bit unfortunate in some situations this season. The last goal was pleasing for me - we are still running strong in injury time and we get our reward for it.
"Lenny Wilson made a couple of routine saves and I thought the 3 at the back - Jamie Bain, Kevin McHattie and Euan Spark were excellent. They defended well, stopped things before they started and covered each other."
Next up for City is the visit of Keith FC tomorrow. Andy said, "Saturday is another game that we're desperate to perform well in. We're showing signs of different things in each game and it's about pulling them all together."

PREVIOUS MEETING
Keith 0-6 Brechin City - 2nd March 2022
In blustery conditions at Kynoch Park, Keith were simply blown away as a perfect hat-trick from David Cox set City on their way to their biggest win of last season.
Despite playing against the wind in the first half, City coped well with the conditions and went in at the break a goal ahead through Cox, before he added another two in the second half to complete his hat-trick. Further goals from Julian Wade, Cammie Ross and an own goal from Ryan Robertson rounded off a comfortable victory.
