Match Preview | Brechin City v Stirling Albion - By Steven Mew

It's top of the Highland League against top of League 2 as Brechin City and Stirling Albion go head to head in what promises to be a tasty Scottish Cup tie at Glebe Park tomorrow afternoon (2pm kick off).

It will be the second time the sides have faced each other this season, with City winning 5-4 on penalties in the SPFL Trust Trophy following a 1-1 draw at Glebe Park in August.

Both sides go into the tie on a great run of form. City are yet to be defeated in 90 minutes this season and their unbeaten Highland League run currently sits at 22 matches stretching back to last season.

The Binos meanwhile currently sit top of League 2, having won their last five league matches and Darren Young's side will travel to Glebe Park full of confidence.

TEAM NEWS
City will be without the services of Aaron Arnott who won't be able to play in the Scottish Cup due to the loan agreement with his parent club Raith Rovers. Michael McArthur made his return from injury with a substitute appearance against Keith last weekend so City should have the rest of the squad available for selection.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Looking back at the comprehensive win over Keith last weekend, Manager Andy Kirk commented, "Overall it was a decent performance and we scored some good goals. If we are being really critical the first 10-15 minutes we were a little bit sloppy and we didn't really get into our rhythm. Once we got the opening goal we settled into the game and it never really looked in doubt from there. We could have maybe scored another couple of goals but at the end of the day it's another 3 points, 5 goals and a clean sheet so we have to be pleased with that."

New signing Botti Biabi made an instant impact with a goal just minutes after coming on as a substitute with Andy adding, "It was a great start for him. As a striker when you go to a new club, coming onto the pitch and having an impact straight away really helps to settle you in so we're delighted for him and hopefully there's a lot more to come. He's a naturally fit guy but he hasn't played an awful lot of football of late so we just needed to be careful with him. He's looked good this week in training."

A tough Scottish Cup tie awaits City tomorrow and Andy, along with the squad are relishing the challenge. He commented, "Stirling are a good side and they are top of their division for a reason - they've had some really good results recently. We've already played them this season albeit in a different competition and we can't really take too much from that. There wasn't much between the teams on the night. It will be another tough challenge for us and one that we are excited about.

"It's the Scottish Cup which always brings a bit of excitement with it and we are desperate to progress in the tournament. It's a game we are capable of winning but we need to be at our best in terms of organisation and concentration - if we get those things right then we can give anybody a game as we showed up at Inverness."

City advanced to the third round of the SPFL Trust Trophy following a dramatic penalty shootout victory over the Binos earlier in the season.

Marc Scott had given City an early lead before Dale Carrick equalised for the visitors in the second half to force the game to penalties. On the balance of play, City deserved to win over the 90 minutes but held their nerve on spot kicks to ensure they progressed to the next round.
