Match Preview | Brechin City v Inverurie Locos - By Steven Mew

Following a 0-0 draw last weekend, City will be looking to get back to winning ways as we take on Inverurie Locos at Glebe Park tomorrow afternoon.

Manager Andy Kirk is looking for a reaction from his players after they dropped points for only the third time in the league this season.

Inverurie, who recently appointed Andy Low as Manager for the second time, currently sit in 6th position in the Highland League and go into the game off the back of a 4-0 win over bottom side Strathspey Thistle last weekend.

TEAM NEWS
City will be without Kevin McHattie who is serving a one-match suspension following his red card on Saturday. Despite making good progress, the game is likely to come too soon for Euan Spark whilst Michael McArthur continues to miss out through injury. After coming off with an injury on Saturday, Andy Kirk is hopeful of having Botti Biabi available for selection.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the stalemate at Nairn last weekend, Manager Andy Kirk said, "We didn't do enough in the game to deserve the win. We didn't compete or create enough and it was a disappointing afternoon for us and that's probably as much as we can say on it. Nairn were really up for the game.

"Lenny (Wilson) was probably one of 3 players that performed well enough throughout the game. Lenny was excellent and made several good saves to keep us in the game, albeit it was poor play from ourselves that put him under pressure. Some games he doesn't have an awful lot to do - he needed to keep his concentration levels up to produce saves like that and this is why we signed him."

Looking ahead to tomorrow, Andy commented, "We need a reaction and we spoke about that after the game last week and again at training this week. It's now up to the players to respond to that and give us the type of performance that we've delivered for most of the season. We've only fallen short on a couple of occasions performance wise but overall we can't complain about what they've given us. We've got to get back to basics and compete - tomorrow is a chance to put that right."

PREVIOUS MEETING
Inverurie Locos 0-1 Brechin City - 1 October 2022
A first half goal from Grady McGrath proved to be enough to give City all three points over Locos at Harlaw Park earlier in the season. Despite the narrow scoreline, City never really looked in danger with Lenny Wilson only having to make a couple of routine saves over the course of the game.
