Steven Mew
City are back in action tomorrow evening as we make the relatively short trip up to Pitmedden to face an in-form Formartine United side at North Lodge Park.
Andy Kirk's side will head into the fixture with renewed confidence following a thumping 5-1 victory over Inverurie Locos at Glebe Park on Saturday.
Formartine, who are managed by former City midfielder Stuart Anderson, will be aiming to continue their fine run of form which has seen them clock up 6 straight wins in the league, scoring an impressive 24 goals in the process.
TEAM NEWS
City will welcome back Kevin McHattie from suspension whilst Euan Spark and Michael McArthur will continue to miss out through injury.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Manager Andy Kirk was delighted with the response from his players in the 5-1 win over Inverurie on Saturday. He said, "Nairn was one of our poorest performances of the season and we spoke about that during the week. We needed a reaction to get that out of our system and we absolutely got that. Conceding the goal early on didn't help and there were a couple of poor decisions from players that had led to that.
"It was a bit of a setback but it showed the character of the group to get back on level terms and then putting ourselves in front before half time. After that I don't think they troubled us too much - we limited them to very few opportunities."
Ewan Loudon was introduced to the starting 11 and impressed in a more advanced position with Andy commenting, "Before Ewan's suspension he was doing well - with the 2 game ban and games being called off it was nearly a month before he could play again. He's matured a lot and he's physically stronger. He's got a great attitude and was desperate for his opportunity so it was great to see him getting a couple of goals - we're really pleased for him. He's another player that is flexible for us and can play anywhere in midfield and the front line.
"We have a lot of players that can play different positions and we're happy about that. We also put Marc upfront and he gives everything for the club every week. We just felt we needed to freshen things up a little bit and there is competition for places."
Looking ahead to a difficult trip to face Formartine United tomorrow evening, he said, "We're up at the top end of the league and we have to be confident going into these matches - we will need to go up there and perform well. Formartine have proved to be a very strong team this season - when you look through their squad they have some talented players that can cause problems and they are on a good winning run of late. It will be a very tough game."
