Match Preview | Brechin City v Brora Rangers - By Steven Mew

City's busy and vitally important league schedule continues tomorrow as Brora Rangers make the long journey from Sutherland to Glebe Park.

With just six matches remaining, every one is a 'cup final' for City now and they will look to build on Saturday's 4-0 victory against Turriff United.

Andy Kirk's men will come up against a Brora outfit that boast plenty of firepower, having netted 109 goals in the Highland League this season, more than any other side.

TEAM NEWS
Manager Andy Kirk is likely to have a full squad at his disposal, with the exception of Ewan Loudon who will serve the second game of his 3 match ban.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Manager Andy Kirk was pleased with his sides' showing in the 4-0 win over Turriff United at the weekend, commenting, "I thought the boys were great to be fair. With the number of games we've played recently the pitch was difficult to play on so there were a number of factors where you could give the players a little bit of leeway. Up until the last minute we were attacking still trying to add to our advantage and that tells you a lot about the character of the group. I was pleased with a lot of things and we got another clean sheet and never really looked like conceding at all.

Striker Grady McGrath broke City's long-standing record for league goals in a season with Andy quick to praise the frontman. He said, "Grady is a goal-machine. When he's in that mindset and he's attacking the right areas we know he's a really good finisher and we create a lot of chances for him. I have no doubt he'll add to that total before the end of the season - it's a great achievement breaking that record."

Another player that stood out for City was Anthony McDonald who was named as the sponsors man of the match. Andy added, "Ants still has issues with his back now and again but it's about getting him in the team. Some games and pitches have perhaps not suited his style so we have protected him in certain ways but when he's in that in that frame of mind his ability can cut defences open and create chances for us. He was excellent on Saturday but I couldn't fault any of the players on the pitch."

Looking ahead to the fixture against Brora Rangers, he added, "Tomorrow night and next week against Fraserburgh are going to be massive games for us. Both are at home which is good for us but we just have to take it one game at a time and see where we are. If we get our levels right then will cause teams problems and if we defend the way that we have been of late then that will give us the platform to hopefully go and win the game.

"Brora are a very good side and they have been up there challenging for the league for years so they know what it's all about. They are a team that tries to play football and they have some very good players. We know it's going to be a huge challenge but it's something we have to embrace and we're looking forward to the game."

With time running out, City caught Brora on the counter attack with Grady McGrath slotting home to round off the scoring.
