Match Preview | Brechin City v Fraserburgh
- By
Steven Mew
Following a free weekend, City head into tomorrow's crucial league clash against Fraserburgh knowing there is now little margin for error in their pursuit of the Highland League title.
The two sides met just a fortnight ago in a stalemate at Bellslea, with City left to rue a late penalty miss from Botti Biabi.
City will be looking to go one better at Glebe Park tomorrow evening which would take them to within 4 points of a Buckie Thistle side who stretched their lead at the weekend courtesy of a last gasp win at Strathspey Thistle.
TEAM NEWS
City will be without the services of skipper Jamie Bain who is suspended following his sending off last week, whilst Ewan Loudon will also serve the last game of his 3-match ban.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Speaking on the 0-0 draw against Brora Rangers last week, Manager Andy Kirk said, "It was frustrating that we didn't take the 3 points. I thought we battled and defended well and looked solid - I don't remember Brora having many chances at all if any as Lenny didn't have a save to make. We had 2 or 3 good chances ourselves that we wasted. There were plenty of positives but we were disappointed not to come away with the win.
"We were pleased with the effort and commitment of the players as well as another clean sheet where we never really looked in danger of conceding at all.
"We've got 4 games left and we are a team that is capable of winning 4 games. We have tough opposition in Fraserburgh, Clach, Keith & Buckie so we will need to be on our game and make sure we are more clinical in the final third. We'll keep fighting and see where it takes us."
ADMISSION INFORMATION
Tomorrow's match kicks off at 8pm. Admission prices are £10 for adults and £7 for concessions. Season tickets are valid.
To encourage as many supporters as possible to come along and support the team for this crucial match, the Club is delighted to introduce a special admission offer for the game. Season ticket holders can bring along a friend who can gain entry for half price (reducing to £5 for adults and £3.50 for concessions).
In addition, season ticket holders at our near neighbours (Montrose FC, Forfar Athletic FC & Arbroath FC) can also gain entry for half price on production of their season ticket at the turnstiles.
FOODBANK COLLECTION

The aim is to help eradicate food poverty in Brechin and the surrounding area by collecting donations from fans at home games and distributing them locally. The donations will be collected from 6:45pm until kick off (8pm) at the Trinity Road entrance.
CITY CLUB BAR
The City Club will be open to both sets of supporters from 6:45pm.

Tomorrow's match referee is Joel Kennedy, assisted by Stephen McDade and Lewis Burns.
PREVIOUS MEETING
Fraserburgh 0-0 Brechin City - 29th March 2023
City had to settle for a share of the spoils following a scrappy encounter against Fraserburgh at a wet and blustery Bellslea just a fortnight ago.
It was a game of very few clear cut chances as both sides struggled to adapt to the conditions throughout. It could have easily been the 3 points that City craved as City were awarded a penalty ten minutes from time, however Botti Biabi saw his spot kick saved by keeper Joe Barbour.
SPONSORSHIP & MASCOT
The matchball sponsor tomorrow evening is Ewan Milne whilst our mascots will be Kyle & Alistair Dickson!
