Following a narrow defeat away to Hamilton in midweek, City are up against another full-time League 1 side in the shape of Cove Rangers tomorrow afternoon.
City finished strongly against Accies on Tuesday evening and will be looking to carry that into tomorrow's fixture at the newly rebranded Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park.
Paul Hartley's Cove side, who turned full time in the summer, got their Viaplay Cup campaign off to a fine start with a 5-2 victory over Clyde.
TEAM NEWS
City will continue to be without Anthony McDonald who will be the only absentee for tomorrow's match.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Looking back at the narrow defeat at Hamilton in midweek, Manager Andy Kirk commented,
"I was very disappointed with our first half display - we were a bit too deep and when we won the ball back we made poor decisions and gave possession away too quickly. We didn't show the qualities that we are capable of and the standards that they have set before.
"We had a chat at half time about the things we needed to do better and huge credit to them, we improved in the second half and we were probably a bit unfortunate not to take something away from the game. There has been a lot of positives to take from two matches against top teams.
"Hamilton are a full time team with a lot of good players and fair play to them, they played very well in the first half but much of that was maybe down to us being too negative.
"When we play in the Highland League we have a lot more of the ball in certain games and you can get complacent defensively, so these games really sharpen us up and the concentration levels have to be high for the full 90 minutes."
Looking ahead to this weekends fixture against Cove Rangers, Andy said,
"We're up against another League 1 team on Saturday and I would expect them to be similar to Hamilton. They are full time so I'd expect their fitness levels to be up there but we showed last season against the likes of Inverness we were still attacking right to the very end of the game. I'm hoping we can put on a good show on Saturday and we'll need to be at our best against a strong team.
"We can learn from the last two games - what we did well and what we didn't do well and hopefully we'll have a chance in the next two games.

PREVIOUS MEETING
Cove Rangers 3-2 Brechin City - 7th March 2020
City were edged out by Cove at the Balmoral Stadium in what proved to be the final fixture of the season, with the league coming to a shuddering halt due to the Covid pandemic. A double from Mitch Megginson and a further strike from another former City player in the shape of Jamie Masson looked to have the home side in a commanding lead. However, a couple from Jimmy Scott set up a grandstand finish.
