Steven Ferguson has been named as the new Brechin City captain. "Fergie" previously did the job for a few seasons at Ross County and he revealed at the weekend that he's "delighted" to be handed the role.

"The manager offered me the opportunity and how could I refuse? I am delighted, I have had an excellent pre-season. I think my loan spell at Dumbarton helped me, I managed to pick up a Player of the Year Award there and I want to ensure we continue the hard work this season at Brechin."

In the event of "Fergie" being suspended or injured, the captain's armband will go to John Ward. Another who has done the job with previous clubs.
