Match Preview | Brechin City v Rothes - By Steven Mew

City will be looking to build on a hard-fought win over Nairn County last weekend as we welcome Rothes to the Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park tomorrow afternoon.

City will come up against a Managerless Rothes side, with the long-serving Ross Jack departing the Speysiders during the week. They come into the game off the back of a 0-0 draw up at Wick last weekend and currently sit in 10th place in the Highland League table.

Thanks to an army of volunteers, the Club put down pitch covers yesterday afternoon to ensure the match has the best possible chance of going ahead during the recent cold snap.

TEAM NEWS
City will continue to be without Anthony McDonald whilst Kevin McHattie will also miss out with a hip injury sustained late on in the match against Nairn last Saturday. The Club will also look to add another new face to the squad ahead of tomorrow's match so keep your eyes peeled on the website and socials!

Manager Gavin Price gave an update on both McHattie & McDonald - he said, "Kevin hasn't been able to train this week so we'll just have to take it day by day. We don't want to take any unnecessary chances and it's a chance for someone else to come in. The squad is strong and we've got competition in every area of the park now.

"Anthony has made a lot of progress over the last 2-3 weeks and he's been working really hard. He should be back running in the next week or so and we're still hopeful that we'll see him back on the pitch before the end of the season."

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the narrow win over Nairn County last weekend, Gavin Price commented, "It was one of those games where it was all about grinding out the result. Nairn made it really difficult for us with high energy and confidence but by and large we dealt with it. They had a couple of good chances in the game but we probably had more clear cut chances to finish the game.

"It was a great result and we showed great character to dig in and win the game. Nairn were on that excellent run for a reason and they'll prove to be a stumbling block for a lot of teams this season.

"We looked a lot more threatening from set pieces again and Ewan Loudon also should have scored from another corner shortly after we had scored from one. It's something that we have been working on and these little parts of the game is something we've been looking to tidy up."

City will welcome Managerless Rothes to the Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park tomorrow afternoon with Gavin adding, "I know Rothes well and played them during my time at Elgin including friendlies and the North of Scotland Cup. Their Manager Ross Jack has left the Club now but we've got to look at ourselves and perform like we did in our last home against Huntly a few weeks ago. That's the level that we are capable of and that is what we are demanding."
