Luke Strachan Signs on Loan - By Steven Mew

Brechin City FC is pleased to confirm the loan signing of Luke Strachan on loan from League 1 outfit Cove Rangers until the end of the season.

Luke, who can play anywhere down the left hand side, previously had a brief loan spell at City on loan from Dundee during the 2019/20 season with the Covid Pandemic cutting his stay short.

He went on to have further loan spells at Forfar Athletic and Alloa Athletic before signing a 2-year deal with Cove Rangers in the summer. An ankle injury and subsequent operation meant he has been unable to feature for the Aberdeen side this season but has been back in training over the last few weeks.

The 22 year-old, who is the grandson of former Scotland boss Gordon Strachan, will be added to the squad for tomorrow's Breedon Highland League fixture against Lossiemouth at Grant Park.

Manager Gavin Price was delighted to get another of his targets over the line, he said, "We're getting a very good player - he is someone that I've seen a lot of and I tried to get him on loan to Elgin a couple of times. He had a good spell at Forfar and last season with Alloa Athletic on loan.

"He had to get an ankle operation at the start of the season which is why he's missed most of the campaign to date but he's been back in training the last few weeks and Paul Hartley was keen to get him out on loan playing games which is beneficial for us.

"Luke can play at left back and can also play further forward as well having started out as a winger. He's another left sided player which gives us a good balance and increased competition for places - it's another strong addition to the squad."
