Match Preview | Strathspey Thistle v Brechin City - By Steven Mew

City continue to clock up the miles this week with another lengthy trip north tomorrow afternoon to face bottom side Strathspey Thistle at Seafield Park.

Buoyed by a 3-0 victory over Lossiemouth in midweek, City will be aiming to make it 5 straight wins in Grantown-on-Spey.

Tomorrow's hosts have been without a Highland League fixture since the middle of December where they narrowly lost 1-0 to Formartine at Seafield Park.

The Jags have just one win to their name in the Highland League so far this season, that being a thumping 5-2 win over Deveronvale in November.

TEAM NEWS
Having played in midweek, a number of players will be assessed ahead of tomorrow's match but City's only definite absentee will be Anthony McDonald.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the win over Lossiemouth in midweek, Manager Gavin Price commented, “I was really pleased with how we played in the first half in particular. We moved the ball quickly and played with a real intensity.

“Credit to Lossiemouth – they stuck to their task and made it difficult, although we still created chances in the second half. It was not quite as fluid as the first half.

“We took Luke Strachan off – it was his first game in about six months (due to an ankle operation), so we didn’t want to overdo it with him. It affected the balance a little bit.

“Overall, it was a satisfying evening, especially the first half performance, which was really good.”

PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 5-0 Strathspey Thistle | 16 September 2023
A hat-trick from Grady McGrath helped City ease past Strathspey Thistle at the Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park back in September.

First half goals from Spencer Moreland, Fraser MacLeod and a Grady McGrath double put the game out of Strathspey’s reach at the break before McGrath grabbed his first hat-trick of the season as City ran out comfortable 5-0 winners.
