Match Preview | Keith v Brechin City - By Steven Mew

After three consecutive home matches, City are back on the road tomorrow afternoon as we make the familiar journey up the A96 to face Keith at Kynoch Park.

Despite sitting in a lowly position in the league table, Keith are unbeaten in their last 4 matches, including a 2-1 victory last time out over Rothes.

After a 0-0 draw against fellow title challengers Banks O' Dee in midweek, City will be looking to get back on the winning trail against the Maroons.

TEAM NEWS
Following the midweek fixture against Banks O' Dee, a number of players are nursing niggles and will be assessed ahead of the game tomorrow. Anthony McDonald remains City's only definite absentee.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Looking back at the goalless draw against Banks O' Dee on Tuesday, Gavin Price commented, "I thought we started the game very well for the first 20 minutes or so but we didn't take our chances when they came along. It started to even out a bit after that point. We started the second half very well again where we had the best chance of the game. It was a great move and Matty played the perfect pass across goal and you were just waiting for the net to bulge but it's taken a wee bobble as it's arrived at Ewan's foot - it's just one of those things.

"I thought over the game we were the better side and created the best chances but probably not enough to feel terribly hard done by. We limited them to few opportunities and it became a bit of a stalemate in the second half.

"Fraser and Marc had a couple of wee chances later on in the game but we didn't create enough in the second half which is why I'm probably annoyed at myself for not bringing on a few more attacking options. On reflection I could have been more positive with the substitutions earlier in the second half. It may have been a gamble that could have got us the three points but at the same time it may not have. These are the kind of things you always beat yourself up about after the game. It's no disaster and everything is still in our own hands.

"Tomorrow's game is just as important - we need to make sure the players are fresh and ready for another tough fixture. Keith are unbeaten in their last 4 games and will be quite buoyant. We played against Keith in my first game and although we took an early lead they pegged us back and were difficult to break down. We've got a big 10 games in a short space of time and we'll need to use all of the players we've got."

PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 3-1 Keith - 22 November 2023
Keith provided the opposition in what was Gavin Price's first match as Brechin City Manager as he got his tenure at Glebe Park off to a winning start.

Much of the work was done by City in the first half having gone 3-1 up with just 20 minutes courtesy of goals from Fraser MacLeod, Marc Scott and Grady McGrath. Had it not been for some wasteful finishing and fine goalkeeping, the scoreline could have been far higher at the break.

City were unable to replicate that showing in the second half – perhaps put off their stride by a 10 minute period of floodlight failure - but did more than enough to earn the all important 3 points.
