Match Preview | Inverurie Locos v Brechin City
- By
Steven Mew
Following two cup fixtures in recent weeks, it's a welcome return to Highland League action tomorrow afternoon as we make the relatively short journey up to face Inverurie Locos at Harlaw Park.
TEAM NEWS
City will continue to be without Anthony McDonald who is likely to be another few weeks away from a return. Despite coming off injured last Friday, both Marc Scott and Ewan Loudon are expected to be in the squad. Dayle Robertson will return after missing the Highland League Cup tie against Banks O' Dee through suspension.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Commenting on the Highland League Cup defeat against Banks O' Dee last week, Manager Patrick Cregg said, "The conditions weren't great. I thought before they scored the opening goal we had the better opportunities and we were probably unfortunate not to be 1-0 up. The cross for their goal, once it beats the first man it always has a chance of going in and the goalkeeper didn't seen it until late.
"At half time I still fancied us but we didn't do enough and we deserved to lose the game. It's all about moving on from it now.
"We took the opportunity to give minutes to some of our younger players who we want to develop and we have a duty of care to do our best by them. I'm a big advocate of giving players opportunities regardless of what age they are. There were other players who featured who haven't played as often too and of course Cillian Sheridan made his debut so there were positives on the night."
Looking ahead to the trip to face Inverurie tomorrow, Patrick added, "Tomorrow will be a tough game - we have obviously beaten them twice already this season but tomorrow is a completely different game, you only need to look at Brora midweek to see that anything can happen. We need to have the right mentality and we're really looking forward to the match."

PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 2-1 Inverurie Locos - 9 November 2024
The sides met at the Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park just over a month ago in the first round of the Highland League Cup. A young City side edged out the Locos with Ryan Ferguson and Dayle Robertson both netting in the second half, before Mark Souter pulled one back for the visitors. Dayle Robertson saw red for an off the ball incident shortly after the goal however City held on to progress.
