Match Preview | Deveronvale v Brechin City
- By
Steven Mew
Following a free Saturday last week, City will be hoping to return to action tomorrow afternoon but will require Royal Princess Park in Banff to survive the recent cold snap.
The fixture, alongside Fraserburgh's home match with Rothes are the only survivors in the Highland League thus far.
Whilst the pitch at Princess Royal Park is currently playable, freezing temperatures are forecast overnight so a precautionary pitch inspection has been called for 9am tomorrow. The Club will keep supporters updated of any developments.
City will come up against a Deveronvale side in fine form, having won 6 of their last 7 matches in all competitions. They are enjoying a real upturn in fortunes under the Management of former City player Garry Wood, with the Banff outfit having already surpassed last seasons points total by 5 already.
TEAM NEWS
City will continue to be without long-term injury victim Anthony McDonald however Craig Tosh will return to the squad after missing the last fixture against Huntly. There will be late fitness checks over Euan Spark and Fraser Macleod.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Manager Patrick Cregg was a happy man following the 5-1 win against Huntly a fortnight ago, he said, "I was really happy with the performance against Huntly and from an efficiency point of view it's probably as good as we've been, and that is something we will be looking to continue. We probably gave away too many opportunities but I was really happy with our offensive play.
"I think that was Lenny's best performance of the season. Sometimes he doesn't have an awful lot to do but Huntly had a number of attempts on target and Lenny had to be at his best to keep them out.
"I was really happy with Dayle getting a hat-trick too - once he gets a run of games he's as good as anyone in the league. He just loves scoring goals and I think with Cillian upfront alongside him they are playing well and that bodes well.
"This weekend hopefully we can be as efficient as we were against Huntly - we always respect our opponents and we will be looking to take the game to them."
