Match Preview | Rothes v Brechin City - By Steven Mew

Following three consecutive draws at home, City will be looking for some joy on the road as we make the journey to Rothes tomorrow afternoon.

A share of the spoils against Keith in midweek saw City slip 4 points behind Brora Rangers at the top, however crucially City still have a game in hand.

Rothes have endured a torrid season to date and currently sit second-bottom of the Highland League with just 3 wins from 23 matches.

TEAM NEWS
New signing Kieran Sweeney will be added the squad but City will continue to be without the injured trio of Euan Spark, Anthony McDonald and Craig Tosh.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the draw against Keith in midweek, Manager Patrick Cregg commented, "It was one of those nights - even when they equalised I thought we would go on and get a winner and that's the way things are going for us at the minute. Keith had one shot on target in the second half and scored from it. We need show good character now and go on a winning run. We're obviously extremely difficult to beat but we need to be winning games.

"I was happy with the performance in the first half where we created a number of chances but our finishing was poor on the night. We should have scored late on too with a really good chance when Lewis Milne headed over. For some reason the element of luck just isn't going our way but that will turn - I have no doubt about that but we have to be performing well for that to change.

"I was happy to see Ewan getting on the scoresheet after registering an assist after coming off the bench on Saturday as well.

"We have to now focus on getting a sequence of wins now and it has to start tomorrow against Rothes. I have full faith in the group and I do believe we will go on a run again."

PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 2-1 Rothes - 21st September 2024
The home side completely dominated proceedings in the first half and burst into an early 2-0 lead with goals from Ewan Loudon and a fantastic strike from Seth Patrick. City should have gone in at the break further than two goals in front, yet they were made to sweat ever so slightly for the 3 points in the end with Rothes converting their only meaningful shot on goal midway through the second half as Ross Logan netted a spectacular strike from range, catching Isaac Carmody off his line.
