Match Preview | Strathspey Thistle v Brechin City - By Steven Mew

City head into their last scheduled midweek fixture of the season as we make the trip to face Strathspey Thistle tomorrow evening (8pm kick off).

Ray McKinnon's side bounced back from a defeat against Inverurie last Wednesday with victory over Forres Mechanics at the weekend and they now head into the remaining 4 fixtures of the season undoubtedly looking for a maximum return to maintain the pressure on Brora Rangers who currently lead the Highland League on goal difference.

City will come up against a Strathspey Thistle side that will be buoyed by a crucial 1-0 win over Rothes on Saturday which moved them three points clear of the foot of the table and there is growing belief that they can avoid bottom spot this season.

TEAM NEWS
City will continue to be without Anthony McDonald, Craig Tosh, Cillian Sheridan and Mitchell Findlay for tomorrow's fixture.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Speaking on the narrow victory over Forres Mechanics at the weekend, Interim Manager Ray McKinnon commented, "I was really disappointed after the result against Inverurie last Wednesday and we never reached the levels that we showed in the three games prior to that. It wasn't a game that we deserved to lose but didn't do enough to win the game.

"We had a good response against Forres and I thought the boys were excellent in the first half with some nice football. For ten minutes after half time the standards dropped a bit so we really had to get back into the game which we did.

"We probably should have had another couple of goals which would have made things easier but at this stage of the season the main thing is picking up the 3 points."

Mitch Taylor netted two goals which culminated in a deserved man of the match award. Ray added, "I know Mitch's qualities and what he brings to the team. He'll give you everything - his two goals were fantastic and we needed those to win the game."

City were without a number of players for the game at the weekend with Ray commenting, "We've 5 or 6 injuries at the moment and none of them are that close where they will be ready for Wednesday's game. Our players have had to play a lot of games in a short period of time which we will need to manage and ensure they are energised for the game in midweek."
