Brechin City FC is delighted to announce that defender Brad McKay has put to pen to paper on a one-year contract extension, with the option for a further year.
McKay was an ever-present figure in City’s back line last season and his performances saw him pick up a hat-trick of individual awards at the end of the season - namely Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Supporters’ Player of the Year. In the last few days, he was also named in the Press & Journal Breedon Highland League team of the season.
It wasn’t just his defensive qualities that has endeared him to the City support – he also showed he is a real threat from set pieces at the other end as he almost broke into double figures for goals last season. He notched 9 times in 40 appearances, including a hat-trick against Cowdenbeath in the Scottish Cup.
Manager Ray McKinnon was pleased to retain Brad’s services for at least another season, adding, “I’m delighted that Brad has re-signed and committed himself to the Club. He is an excellent player and brings so much quality to the team. I’m pleased to have him on board and look forward to working with him this coming season.”
The Club are currently in discussions with a number of existing players in addition to potential new signings and a squad update will be provided in due course.
