It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our long-serving kitman Allan Grieve.
‘Grievsie’, who celebrated his 80th birthday last year, dedicated over five decades of his life to Brechin City and he left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
He was a highly respected figure across Scottish football and a ‘well kent’ face across management committees, coaches, players and supporters alike.
He also assisted the late Tommy Gilmartin at the well-renowned midweek physio sessions at Glebe Park which brought both players and members of the public from all over the county and sometimes even further afield!
Just two years ago, the Club marked his outstanding contribution by naming the kit room in his honour and at the end of last season, he was presented with a special recognition award for his long-standing service to Brechin City FC which we were delighted to present to him in person at Glebe Park.
The below images perfectly epitomises Grievsie’s personality, how much the Club meant to him and why he was loved and adored by so many people.
His passing undoubtedly leaves a large hole at Brechin City and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time. The flag at Glebe Park will fly at half-mast today as a mark of respect.
Rest in peace Grievsie - a true Club legend ❤️
