Match Preview | Lossiemouth v Brechin City
- By
Steven Mew
City head north to Lossiemouth tomorrow looking to get back on the winning trail following a disappointing draw against Keith in midweek.
City will come up against a Lossie side that have endured a disappointing campaign so far, currently sitting second-bottom of the Highland League having just won 3 of their opening 17 games.
TEAM NEWS
City again do not have their troubles to seek in terms of team selection. Brad McKay, Dugald Farquhar, Adam Hutchinson & Dayle Robertson have been joined on the treatment table by Ben Armour and Mitch Taylor following the game in midweek, with the latter sustaining a broken toe which is likely to keep him out for a number of weeks. Ethan Crombie will again also be unavailable for tomorrow's match.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the midweek draw against Keith, Manager Ray McKinnon commented, "We were disappointed not to come away with 3 points. We got into so many good positions but our final pass just wasn't there. Their goalkeeper made about 3 or 4 really good saves but our quality was poor in the final third and we need to be much more ruthless. However they showed good character to keep going to the end and get the equaliser and that may well prove to be crucial come the end of the season.
"Keith made it difficult for us and their goal was just about all they had in the game going forward. That gave them something to fight for until the bitter end but we should have put them out of sight before that so that's frustrating.
"We need to go up to Lossiemouth tomorrow and ensure we don't make the same mistakes, put the foot down and win the game. We need to be more clinical so hopefully we can do that tomorrow.

PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 4-0 Lossiemouth - 26 July 2025
A hat-trick from Grady McGrath helped City on their way to a comfortable victory on the opening day of the Highland League season. Having just signed on loan from Cove Rangers that morning, McGrath gave City the lead on 27 minutes as they went in 1-0 up at the break.
He then added a second from the penalty spot midway through the second half before completing his hat-trick 17 minutes from time. With just minutes remaining, substitute Mitchell Findlay bundled home from close range for his first City goal to complete the scoring.
