City v Alloa Preview - By Steven Mew

Scott Walker
Scott Walker:-May Return To The Side

City have had a very inconsistent start to the season and they will be looking to get all three points against lowly Alloa this afternoon at Glebe Park.

Brechin’s defensive injury problems go from bad to worse as David White is doubtful for the game, however, Scott Walker should be fit to partner John Ward in the heart of the City defence. Midfielder Grant Johnson is also doubtful for the home side while full backs Craig McEwan and Stuart Ferguson and skipper Steven Ferguson are most definitely out. Gary Bollan, who hasn’t played a competitive match since February, has had his contract terminated and has left the club.

The wasps are currently in 9th place in the league, three points behind Brechin after their 4-0 thrashing against Morton last Saturday. Alloa haven’t enjoyed the best of starts to the season, which included a 6-1 thumping by Cowdenbeath on the opening day.

Like ourselves, Alloa have a lot of players out injured. Neil McCallum, David McClune, Michael Stuart and Ross Clark are all definitely out for the visitors although the experienced Kieran McAnespie has recently returned from injury.

The last time Alloa were at Glebe Park was in January 2005 when City were cruising at the top of the second division and were unbeaten in the league for months, and at 2-1 up everyone expected Brechin to go on and win the game but amazingly Alloa staged a fantastic comeback to win 3-2 courtesy of a last minute headed goal.

Kick off is 3:00pm as per usual and segregation does not apply.
