The draw for the first round of the Tennent's Scottish Cup took place today and City were paired with 3rd division outfit Queens Park. Should City advance to the next round, they will be once again at home, to either Preston Athetic or Stenhousemuir.

The draw was hosted by Edinburgh University FC, who have qualified for the tournament for the first time since 1973. The draw was made by Hearts defender Jose Goncalves and Ian McPhee of tournament sponsors Tennent's.

The Spiders have shocked a couple of big clubs in Cup competitions already, with both Hamilton and Aberdeen tumbling out of the CIS Cup after being beaten at Hampden. Former City keeper Mark Cairns was the hero for Queens as they dumped the Dons out on penalties. Queens are currently 7th in the 3rd division but are only 4 points off 2nd place.

The full draw for both rounds is as follows:

First Round
Brechin City v Queen's Park
Arbroath v Albion Rovers
Edinburgh University v Keith
Deveronvale v Montrose
East Stirlingshire v Stirling Albion
Preston Athletic v Stenhousemuir
East Fife v Berwick Rangers
Stranraer v Alloa Athletic
Ties to be played on Saturday 18 November

Second Round

Deveronvale or Montrose v Fraserburgh
Stranraer or Alloa v Forfar Athletic
Cowdenbeath v Edinburgh University or Keith
