The draw for the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup was made shortly after the match yesterday and City were paired with fellow 2nd division side Cowdenbeath. The match is to be played at Central Park and the tie is due to be played on Saturday, 6th January 2007.

While the tie is far from a money spinner, it gives City an ideal chance of progressing to the next round of the cup where there is an even bigger chance of getting one of the ''big boys'.

City have already played at Central Park this season and they emerged victorious with a 3-1 win, with Paddy Connolly (2) and Grant Johnson causing the damage.

The draw created a few interesting ties, with 3rd division Dumbarton travelling to take on SPL leaders Celtic at Parkhead while Airdrie and Motherwell will battle it out in a Lanarkshire derby.

The full draw is as follows:

Celtic v Dumbarton
St Johnstone v Ayr United
Ross County v Partick Thistle
Dundee v Queen of the South
Greenock Morton v Kilmarnock
Aberdeen v Hibernian
Clyde v Gretna
Stirling Albion v Inverness CT
Airdrie United v Motherwell
Dundee United v St Mirren
Stranraer v Heart of Midlothian
Hamilton Academical v Livingston
Dunfermline v Rangers
Berwick Rangers v Falkirk
Deveronvale v Elgin City
Cowdenbeath v Brechin City

Ties to be played on Saturday 6 January and Sunday 7 January.
