Michael O'Neill
Match Report: Brechin City 1-2 Raith Rovers
City manager
Michael O’Neill was dissapointed not to have gained at least a point from yesterday’s defeat against fellow play-off hopefuls Raith Rovers.
Michael said:
“I’m very disappointed. I honestly thought we were the better team.
“I thought we had the better chances in the first half. We were on top when they scored the first goal.
“We had chances after to get level and we didn’t take them. With the chances we created, we’re disappointed to have lost the game.
“They had two chances and they took both of them. They caused us problems from corners but that was about it really.
“At the end of the day we know we weren’t at our best but it was a game we shouldn’t have lost.”
Raith Rovers gaffer
John McGlynn was understandably delighted with the three points, he said:
“Brechin started the better and had a few chances early on, but we weathered the storm and Denis took his chance really well to put us in front.
“After that we had a shot blocked off the line and then a header off the line. At half time it could have been 3 each but we were happy to go in ahead at the break.
“We defended a lot better in the second half and Brechin didn’t really open us up. Steven Hislop took his goal really well.
“When Brechin pulled a goal back towards the end it put us under a bit of pressure but we dug in and held out. We are very happy with the result.”
