City's top scorer Iain Russell is in the running for the SPFA's player of the year prize for the Second Division. The 24 year old striker has banged in 22 goals in all competitions this season and is up against Morton duo Peter Weatherson and Paul McGowan, as well as Stirling's Chris Aitken.
After a slow start to the season, where he often started on the substitutes bench, Russell has been banging in goals left, right and centre ever since opening his account with a brace against Stranraer in October.
But he faces stiff competition in the shape of Peter Weatherson, a free scoring right back and on loan Celt Paul McGowan, both of leaders Greenock Morton. Stirling Albion midfielder Chris Aitken makes up the shortlist
