Stuart Callaghan Signs - By Keith Johnston

Ian Campbell has recruited his first major signing following his appointment as Brechin City's new manager - and the player in question inflicted some recent damage to the City cause.

Highly experienced Alloa Athletic midfielder, Stuart Callaghan (28), is joining the Glebe Park club, but is cup-tied for Saturday's trip to Berwick Rangers.

Callaghan played a major role in City's downfall last Monday and is highy-rated by everyone at Alloa. He also scored a cracker which gained his side a point when City visited Alloa earlier in the season.

Talking of his first new signing Ian Campbell said: "Stuart is an excellent player and an excellent individual whom we have wanted to bring to the club for some time.

"He has scored seven goals from midfield so far this season and we see him playing an important role for us in the weeks ahead. I want to publicly thank the Management Committee whose ambitions very much match our own in attracting this calibre of player."

Callaghan started his senior career at Hearts and also enjoyed loan spells at now defunct Clydebank. It was at Hamilton Accies he really made his name with some excellent performances and his good form has continued at Alloa.

"I have held talks with another couple of players and we want to freshen things up during the window. There are a lot of people I want to speak to and after we get the cup-tie out of the way, the fans can expect to see a few more players coming in.

"But we'll only bring in players whom we feel have a chance of playing in our starting eleven every week."

As mentioned yesterday, Stuart Callaghan is available to sponsor at the discount price of £35. Snap him up now before someone else does!
