It is with regret that Brechin City has agreed to the transfer of striker Iain Russell to Greenock Morton for a five figure sum.

Chairman Ken Ferguson stated ‘Whilst the Club did not wish to loose the services of such a valuable player at this early stage in the season we cannot stand in the way of an ambitious player who has stated for some time that he wishes to return to full time football. With Iain’s contract expiring at the end of this season and it looking increasingly unlikely that he would commit for a longer term the Club must look forward and make the best of situations that arise along the way. I would like to thank Iain for the commitment and professionalism he demonstrated whilst with the Club and we wish him every success with his full time career.’
