Brechin City's longest serving player, Charlie King, has hailed the efforts of his team mates in what has turned out to be his best ever season in the Scottish Football League.

King also urged his mates to "stick together" in the next few vital weeks of the season in a bid to try and cement a place in the play-off's, and reminded everyone that "in division two, you can move up as fast as you can move down".

"We have to remember for a long spell we were fighting it out at the other end of the league and only by continuing to win every week can we be sure of getting near the play-off's."

The Perth-based player, who is having his best season in the goal-scoring stakes, said the most important thing about the present City squad was the team spirit.

"We have no superstars, just some good footballers and hard working players who want the club to do very well. From a personal point of view I'm delighted to get amongst the goals.

"Saturdays winner was my eleventh of the season and with a bit of luck, I could have had a few more. The goalkeeper made an excellent save from my free-kick.

"It's my best return I think since I spent a spell on-loan with Ross County as a young lad and managed to get about seven.

"But getting goals for yourself is obviously not as important as the team winning on a Saturday and the last two results have shown that we have what it takes to get in about the teams at the top end of the table.

"I actually spoke to the manager, because I was dissapointed not to be playing in the forward line any longer. But to be fair to him, Iain Diack and Michael Paton have done really well and I can understand that and to be honest I am happy to be playing every week and if I can keep scoring every week I'd be even more delighted!

"We just have to stick together and keep working as hard as we have been for the last few weeks. We have a tough game at Ayr on Saturday and hopefully we will take another good support down there with us.

"We recieved a tremendous backing again from the punters at Airdrie on Saturday and hopefully we can continue to give them something to shout about."
